Middleborough Police Arrest and Charge Man with Assaulting Police Officer

MIDDLEBOROUGH — Chief Joseph Perkins reports that Middleborough Police arrested and charged a man with multiple offenses after he allegedly assaulted a police officer during an investigation into a crash Tuesday night.

ADAM K. MORIN, AGE 46, OF MIDDLEBOROUGH was charged with:

  • Disorderly Conduct
  • Threat to Commit a Crime
  • Assault with a Dangerous Weapon
  • Assault and Battery on a Police Officer
  • Resisting Arrest

MORIN is expected to be arraigned today in Wareham District Court and could face additional charges, as the investigation is still ongoing.

At approximately 9 p.m. Tuesday, Middleborough Police responded to a report of a vehicle that was partially submerged in the Nemasket River at Oliver Mill Park, 14 Nemasket St.

Upon arrival, officers came upon a telephone pole and wooden kiosk that had been crashed into, leaving a trail of debris leading to the river. Officers located the vehicle in the river but were unable to find the driver.

As police investigated on-scene, one officer went to the home of the person who the vehicle was registered to on Forest Street in Middleborough.

While speaking with the vehicle owner, the man told the officer that he believed MORIN had taken the vehicle earlier in the night and that MORIN had come back home and was inside his bedroom.

As the officer went to speak with MORIN, MORIN grabbed a broom and allegedly swung it at the officer. MORIN refused to comply with the officer’s demands to drop the broom and threatened to kill the officer.

While trying to place MORIN under arrest, he continued to be aggressive and resist and the officer called for backup. Police were eventually able to place MORIN in custody.

He was taken back to the Middleborough Police Station to be booked. MORIN could face additional charges in regard to the alleged motor vehicle offenses that were committed and the incident remains under investigation.

These are allegations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty.
