Chief Joseph Perkins reports that the Middleborough Police Department is releasing video surveillance footage today of two individuals who were observed in a location near the scene of the vandalism incident at the Middleboro High School on March 26 and are asking for the public’s help in identifying them.
In the video, the two individuals can be seen walking in the direction of the Middleboro High School before the suspected time of the vandalism incident and walking away from the school after the suspected time of the incident.
Community members should note that the time depicted on the screen is off by one hour as the video was taken at 9:40 p.m on March 26 and that the video was taken with a night vision camera so the colors of the clothing may not be as they appear.
At this time, Middleborough Police believe these individuals may be suspects or witnesses in the vandalism incident. Anyone who believes they have information about the incident or the suspects is asked to call the department at 508-947-1212.
At 7:40 a.m. on Sunday, March 27, Middleborough Police were dispatched to the high school, at 71 East Grove St., for a report of vandalism to an exterior wall of the building. Upon arrival, the responding officer initiated an investigation after observing spray-painted tags on the side of the building. The tags were of hateful language and imagery, including a swastika.
The incident remains under active investigation and no charges have been filed at this time.
