Chief Joseph Perkins is pleased to announce that the Town of Middleborough has been chosen by Plymouth County as a recipient of the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) funded by the Federal Department of Justice/Bureau of Justice Assistance.
Middleborough is one of four communities in the County to receive this award along with the City of Brockton, the Town of Plymouth and the Town of Wareham. In total, the department was awarded $10,580 in grant funds.
JAG funds awarded to a town may be used to provide additional personnel, equipment, supplies, contractual support, training, technical assistance, and information systems for criminal justice, including any one or more of the following:
Advancing Justice System Reform Efforts;
Advancing Racial Equity and Support for Underserved Communities;
Preventing and Combating Hate Crimes;
Crime and Violence Reduction Strategies; and
Community-Based Violence Intervention (CVI) Approaches.
The Middleborough Police Department has been awarded this grant since 2016.
